I love working with glass and watching a single glass sheet become a work of art by adding a variety of other glass materials - frit, noodles, stringers, other glass pieces. The glass piece creation is fired in a kiln, melted, and then cooled slowly to anneal for strength and durablitiy. This is "warm glass"! A piece may be kiln fired multiple times to add glass, reshape or to create a desire form.

Each work is unique as it is created and designed specifically for a particular piece of glass. I cut each piece of glass by hand as I design it in my head, and since there may be a variation in the glass itself as it is cut, there is a variation in designing a piece. It also derives its uniqueness from the reaction of the firing upon the glass - the actual process causes each piece to never be identical to another, even when I am trying to accomplish that!

I also do "slumped" bottles in my own kiln - a wonderful way to recycle a variety of bottles. These used bottles become wonderful spoon rests, wall decorations or cheese and cracker trays.

I hope you enjoy my work as much as I love making it!
